My Favorite Easter Tradition

Since I was a kid I loved Easter. I think I enjoyed it even more than Christmas. It was all because of our Cascarones/Confetti Eggs.  It sounds a little odd to people who aren't familiar with them, but it is a ton of fun.

Making Mexican Cascarones

To make your cascarones, all you have to do is gently crack the top of an egg, peel away a small piece of shell, and let the egg drip out into a bowl. Rinse the egg thoroughly and let it dry.

Then use an egg dying kit to decorate the egg. Allow it to dry again, then fill with confetti and close the hole by gluing a scrap of colorful tissue paper over the opening. Then they are all ready. The hardest part is finding real confetti. I buy mine at a Mexicsn store. I don't buy the expensive foil kind from party stores.

On Easter, we write a value on them on the bottom ($.25/$.$10/a couple dollar ones) or whatever. After the egg hunt, we cash in ou eggs and then to the fun. Everyone is then free to crack their eggs on each other's heads. Again, I said it sounds weird if you are not used to the tradition, but it is really fun. To this day our parents hide eggs for us big kids who want to play too! Lol

Warning: Walmart sells some, but the egg shells are extremely hard and not crackable. If the kids try to crack those they can really hurt each other.

Last Easter Treat Project... Polka Dot Tag A Bag

Have you enjoyed my Easter projects?!  I had fun making them and posting them!  I even created 2 videos for this mini-series, which is HUGE for me!  This is the last one and it is really east and another semi-hand made.  I used the Polka Dot Tag a Bag as my base.  These come ready to go and are really cute.  I then made an easy tag and added some ribbon.  Simple, right?!  This one I think I will fill up with a gift card...maybe to ice cream or something else fun for spring.

Skinny Cello Bag Easter Treat

So some of you know that I am pregnant with my 3rd child.  I am about 7 1/2 months now time is flying by.  I have never been one to believe in cravings or "I am eating for 2".  I have tried hard every time to be sensible (most of the time!) and not over due it.  This pregnancy I have had a craving, or made up an excuse to eat Skittles.  For some reason, they have been so good the last few months.  So naturally, as I was thinking of Easter treats, I automatically thought of using skittles!  The only problem is that it has taken lots of will power to not open up my treat and eat it! lol

So for this project I used Stampin' Up!s 1x8 cello bags.  These are cute and just the right size for skittles, m&m's or other candy about that size.  You can just dump them in or do a pattern like me!  Again, I used the For Peeps Sake stamp set for a simple tag and in no time had a fast and easy treat!  What do you think?!

More Easters Treats with Gift Box Punch Board

Hello,

As you can tell by now (day 3), I love Easter and I love making favors and giftable treats!  So when I saw the Gift Box Punch Board released last year, I was dying to get it!  I mean, make boxes, loved that....plus make them in a variety of sizes....got me for sure!  I bought it and used it to make this super easy and simple gift box.  

The box was easy to make.  I decorated it with a belly band, ribbon (free with $50 purchase during Sale-a-Bration, until end of March) and a simple tag I made with "For Peeps Sake" stamp set (yes- again!)

Easy Easter Treats, part 2- Tiny Treat Box

Hello,

Welcome back for another Easy Easter Treat.  This is what I call a semi-home made project ;)  This little box from Stampin' Up! is called a Tiny Treat box.  They come in packs of 24 and are less than only $6.95,  They are big enough to hold a handful of hershey's kisses or a small gift.  The pack is perfect for a class treat, or for lots of coworkers or neighbors.

I made a simple tag with the....you guessed it, For Peep's Sake stamp set.  Yes, it is my favorite Easter set this year.  Add some dsp and ribbon and your done!  Easy, fast and you can make 24 of them and fill them with chocolate for about $15!

Easy Easter Treats, Part 1

Hello Everyone,

With Easter around the corner I thought I would share some easy DIY Easter Treats with you.  Back in the day, when I was a new aunt I loved making personalized Easter baskets for my nieces and nephews.  I have fond memories of Easter celebrations, so it was fun for me to make fun baskets.  Now, fast foward and 15 nieces and nephews later, plus my own kids, that is no longer possible.  But, I still love to make Easter treats....just on a smaller scale ;)

So in the next few days I'll be sharing a few Easter treats and favors that you can make.  I even have 2!! videos to share too!!  So, please come back Monday to Thursday of this week to see my daily creations.  They are pre-programmed so you'll be certain to find new ideas on these days!  On Friday, I will share my favorite Easter tradition....I'll give you a hint....it involves egg shells and confetti!

February Stamp Club - Elk Grove

Hello!

This month at club we tried several new products. One of my favorites was the one above. I used the Mini Treat Bag Framelit. I immediately knew I wanted to use it as a gift card holder. I paired it up with the BYOP (buy your own present) stamp set and together they made a quick and cute gust card holder!

The second project is a frame insert. It is cut to 5x7 so it fits perfectly inside a frame. The stamp set, Best Day Ever and the DSP, Best Year Ever are free items you can earn with a $50 order. Ask me for details.

Next up is an Easter card using For Peeps Sake. I Easter is only a month away so I thought we'd get started with a card project for it. 

The other cards required multiple steps, so this thank you card was the simple one for the night.

We hadn't done a wedding card in a while so I think it was time. We used Perfect Day stamp set and embossed the greeting in gold.

We had a great time, even had a new baby visitor, although we missed a few people :(

Hello!

Today I am featuring another Easter project using the Simply Scrappin' Spring Fever kit.  I love the colors in this kit.  With the kit I was able to make 6 12x12 scrapbook pages, 8 cards, and still have lots of embellishments left over!  It's endless...lol!  This was another card I made using the DSP from the kit.

Springtime Milk Carton

Easter is around the corner!  I had been eyeing this Mini Milk Carton Die for a long time and finally decided to get it to make Easter goodies.  Here is my first one.  Let me know what you think!

March Elk Grove, CA Stamp Club

Here is catch up photo number #2.  These are the projects that we made at the March Stamp Club.  A little Easter and a couple all occassion cards.  We did a lot of stamping at this club as usual, but we also did a lot of punching.  The bunny box was made with all punches, the 'flower' card was made with the Build a Blossom Stamp set and punch, and the cupcake card was made with a Cupcake punch.  In addition to the the borders on the cards were made with a punch.  We had tons of fun and I had a TON of vaccuming to do after!  Oh, the price of beautiful cards ;)

April Stamp a Stack Class

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter.  I had a blast with my family and am now back on Stampin' mode. 

Here is a picture of the projects made at the April Stamp a Stack class.  They made 12 total projects.  2 Easter/Spring cards, 2 Easter/Spring choclate bags, 2 butterfly cards, 2 HB cards, 2 baby cards, and 2 Thanks owl cards!  That was a lot of stamping in 3 hours.  However, everyone had a great time and most were done early.  Talk about power stamping!

Happy Easter Projects

Easter is around the corner, can you believe it! For my last class I prepared a few Easter projects. I was going to do traditional bunny or egg projects, but then decided to do a little more elegant Easter projects. What do you think? I might revisit the bunny and egg thing later, stay tuned! The baskets are made using a Big Shot die called Baskets and Blooms. When I first got the die, I did not like it. Then I discovered that I was not using it correctly. When I used it right, I loved it! The die cuts all of the pieces (3) and all you have to do is glue them together and embellish! I love my Big Shot!
