Dressing up a baked treat box with designer series paper

Dress up a baked goods box with one sheet of paper!

Tomorrow is Teacher Appreciation Week.  I like to do a little something homemade or edible, to go along with a more practical gift....gift cards.  It's my way of doing a good balance between something thoughtful and something everyone likes (to pick their own gift!).

At my last Stamp Club, our hostess brought a coffee cake from Ettore's (Lemon Poppyseed and Blueberry).  It was AMAZING!  She bought it at the local Nugget.  So I decided to go and get something similar to add to our teacher gifts.   Now while I think the yummy treats are great, I wanted to dress up the box to make it a little cuter.  So I took a piece of designer series paper that matched the cards and notebooks we had done and did a little measuring.  It was pretty simple and fast to get a lid together.

Here is what I did.
  • I measured my box and added 2 inches to all sides to see how much paper I needed.
  • So my 7x7 box needed a 11x11 sheet of paper.
  • Then I scored all sides by 1 7/8''.  Scoring by a little less than the 2'' gave me a little wiggle room to make sure the box lid slid on and off easily.
  • Then I folded all side and cut like the picture below.
  • Add a little glue and your done!

Give it a try!  Feel free to ask me if you need more clarification.

Beautiful Day Card with Stampin' Blends- with a quick video tutorial!

I know that coloring is the new thing these day.  In most stores you can find coloring books for adults with fancy markers.  I typically don't like coloring... until now!  I decided to try the new Stampin' Blends by Stampin' Up!  They are thicker than the regular markers and juicier.  I really enjoyed them.  I liked how smooth they were to use.  I paired them up with my new favorite, Beautiful Day, stamp set and easily made a couple of cards.  I doubt I will buy a detailed coloring book, that is way too much coloring for me.  But this flower and the butterfly in this stamp set are the perfect amount of coloring for me.  The one above is a card I made for my stamp club in February. I can see myself doing some coloring with these.

Do you like those fast paced recipe videos?  I love watching the "Tasty" videos on Facebook.  Have you seen them? I decided to make a video making this card in the "tasty" style.  Take a look!

Easy Scrapbooking using Memories & More

I love to scrapbook. But realistically I have very little time for it. I make time for it because it is important to me, but when I do I have make the most out of my time and be efficient.  Having pretty pages is a must, so I have to be creative in how I can do that.  One way I save time these days is by using a Memories & More pack with matching SU cardstock.  I quickly put pages together with the title cards as focal points and the other cards as mats. Here are a couple of other pages made with Memories & More card packs.

I am a big fan of the Memories & More line, by Stampin' Up!  If you are not familiar with the line, it is similar to the cards in the previous Project Life line, but better.  The packs come with an assortment of printed cards in 3x4 and 4x6.  Some of the cards have titles or text, others are prints, and some are designed for journaling.  The card packs match the beautiful Stampin' Up! colors and come with a couple sheets of adhesive embellishments.  Here is a look at one of the packs:

There are other things you can do with these card packs.  I use them to write quick notes or to use as elements in a card.  A very popular way to use them is in pocket pages, like this:

I have done several albums like this and love the simplicity of it.  You don't need a ton of stuff, just the cards, photos, the pocket pages and a pen.

Valentine Treat Ideas for Classrooms or Coworkers

I love making Valentine Day treats.  Every year I make something cute and simple for my kids to take to school and some for my own coworkers.  Now that my kids are older they also enjoy making the treats.  Here are a few ideas of treats you can make easily and with minimal materials.  One thing to note is the stamp I used was part of a larger set that has LOTS of greetings.  If your kids are like mine, they do not want to give their classmates anything that says love or be mine.  This Happy Valentine's Day stamp is perfect for the job.

Below I have list of items you will need to complete the projects and some simple measurements to use for key elements for the projects.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.  You can also order online at mayramt.stampinup.net

Don't miss the kit offers below!  I will prep your materials for you....for a limited time!

These cute little boxes were a last minute addition I added to my Valentine's project so I do not have a complete shopping list.  This project uses many of the items used above and the Clear Tiny Treat Boxes (141699).  They cost $7.50 for 16 boxes, measure 2x2x2 and are food safe.  They are perfect for some choclate or other candy treats.
